About Debbie Lindsey
Artist, wife, mother, grandmother, and traveler, Debbie Lindsey found inspiration in the people and places she loved. Her paintings preserve those memories in color, texture, and light.
Her Story
Debbie Lindsey was a naturally gifted artist whose talent was recognized early in life. As a sophomore in high school, one of her works was selected for a regional competition and exhibition in the Pacific Northwest.
Throughout her life, Debbie balanced her passion for art with a life filled with family, travel, and many moves across the United States and overseas. Wherever she lived, she found a way to create—turning spare rooms, quiet corners, and makeshift studios into places where she could continue painting and growing as an artist.
Her later work drew inspiration from the places and people she loved: the dramatic granite formations and brilliant tropical waters of The Baths at Virgin Gorda, the tranquil lily ponds of Florida, and, most especially, her family. Debbie often said that her favorite subjects were her granddaughters, who inspired several of her most cherished drawings and paintings.
Finding Her Voice
While studying art at the University of Central Florida in the early 1980s, Debbie explored a wide range of materials, techniques, and approaches to portraiture. These two early works show that experimentation—from the stark, graphic quality of printmaking to a richly textured composition incorporating a cow skull and an alligator skull.
