Debbie Lindsey | 2024 | Oil on Canvas | Original: 60 × 42 in.
Of all the subjects Debbie Lindsey loved to paint, none were more special to her than her granddaughters.
During a family trip to the Bahamas, Debbie’s daughter photographed Olivia wearing her snorkel gear and holding a pair of starfish. The image stayed with Debbie, and she later used the photograph as the inspiration for Olivia: Catch and Release.
As the painting developed, Debbie’s good friend and fellow artist M.L. Norton encouraged her to complete the work in time for an upcoming art show. Debbie did — and Olivia: Catch and Release became the centerpiece of the exhibition.
Completed in 2024, the 60 × 42-inch oil painting combines two subjects especially dear to Debbie: her family and the sea. It is one of the final works in the Debbie Lindsey collection and carries a particularly personal connection between Debbie, her granddaughter, and a moment captured during their travels.
