Debbie Lindsey | Late 1980s | Oil | Original: 60 × 42 in.
Rage was created during an emotionally difficult period in Debbie Lindsey’s life, marked by profound experiences of loss. The death of Debbie’s cousin by suicide had a deep impact on her. During this period, Debbie turned to her art as a means of expression, creating a work strikingly different from many of the landscapes and figurative paintings for which she would later become known.
The result was Rage — a powerful, intensely expressive oil painting whose title was given by Debbie herself. Rather than depicting a particular place or person, the work communicates emotion through color, movement, texture, and form.
Painted in the late 1980s, the large 60 × 42-inch canvas offers a very personal glimpse into another side of Debbie as an artist and demonstrates the extraordinary range of her work.
