Untitled (The Baths) IX belongs to Debbie Lindsey’s series inspired by The Baths at Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, a place she returned to repeatedly as both a traveler and an artist.
The enormous granite boulders, brilliant Caribbean water, and constantly changing light provided Debbie with a subject she could interpret in many different ways. In this work, her pointillist-influenced technique creates a richly textured surface in which individual touches of color combine to form the rocks, water, and surrounding landscape.
Seen alongside the other paintings in the series, Untitled (The Baths) IX illustrates Debbie’s continuing exploration of a place that remained one of her most enduring artistic inspirations.
